Celebrate 65 years in the community

65 Invite

Vancouver Foundation celebrated its 65th birthday at the Rocky Mountaineer Train Station with more than 400 community leaders, donors and friends.

The celebration centered on the idea that although 65 is a year when many start thinking about retirement, Vancouver Foundation is not slowing down... in fact, we are just getting started!

We did a flashback to 1943 - the year we were established - to see what events and people were shaping the world back then. We came forward to the present day, and the many initiatives Vancouver Foundation is engaged in with the community.

The chair of our homelessness committee, former Colliers chairman John McLernon, shared with everyone the work the Foundation is doing both in youth homelessness, and as a lead partner in the soon-to-be-launched Streetohome Foundation. This new entity brings corporate leaders together with government and non-profit agencies to tackle the issue of homelessness in Vancouver.

Lastly, Dr. John Helliwell, professor emeritus of the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Economics, gave a rousing speech about his research on the economics of happiness and well-being.
