Executive Team
Vancouver Foundation has a team of dedicated professionals, from many different backgrounds and disciplines, who are committed to meeting the needs of our communities and the philanthropic goals of our donors.
Faye Wightman
President and CEO
Faye is one of Canada's philanthropic leaders. She brings to the Foundation a strong conviction that philanthropy can and should play a powerful role in shaping society. Since her arrival in 2005, she has led Canada's largest community foundation through a number of important changes designed to increase its impact in BC communities.
Prior to joining Vancouver Foundation, Faye was President of BC Children's Hospital Foundation for 14 years and then spent two years as Vice President of External Relations at University of Victoria. She has served as Executive Director for Sunny Hill Foundation for Children as well as Campaign Director for the United Way of the Lower Mainland. She has also been a member, on the board, and/or served as president for numerous not-for-profits and other organizations.
Faye's vision and her strong commitment to philanthropy were recognized in 2004 when she was one of five women honoured with the "Influential Women in Business Award," an annual award presented by Business in Vancouver magazine.
Scott Borland
Vice President, Grants and Community Initiatives
Scott brings significant expertise in strategy, change management and leadership development. He joined Vancouver Foundation in September 2009 after 15 years as Managing Director of CYGNUS Management Consultants, with clients like VanCity, Provincial Health Services Authority, Cameco and BC Pension Corp. He also assisted Vancouver Foundation with strategic and operational planning and spent seven years as a senior director with the Canadian Red Cross.
Scott’s strong strategic perspective and analytical skills are balanced with the ability to build effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. His volunteer work has included roles with the United Way, the Canadian Cancer Society, professional associations and sports organizations.
Catherine Clement
Vice President, Communications
Catherine has an extensive background in strategic communications planning. She has worked in both the public and private sectors, and has directed communications projects for foundations and various not-for-profit organizations.
Prior to joining Vancouver Foundation in 2007, she served for eight years as Director of Communications for the City of Vancouver during a time of rapid growth and significant changes in Vancouver. She also worked as a senior communications advisor in the Ontario Ministry of Finance, and before that in the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities. She also ran her own communications firm in Toronto, which specialized in projects for not-for-profit organizations.
Diane Fulton
Chief Investment Officer
Diane brings extensive investment and corporate finance experience to Vancouver Foundation.
Before joining the Foundation in 2008, Diane was Executive Director of Investments for UBC's Faculty Pension Plan and was responsible for the investment of the plan's $1.3 billion in assets. Her private sector experience includes 11 years at ScotiaMcLeod Inc., as Director and VP of Corporate Finance, as well as several years as a corporate finance consultant.
She has served on the Boards of Directors for ICBC, Pacific Northern Gas, Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation, the Pension Investment Association of Canada, and the Vancouver Public Library.
Diane has an MBA from York University, and a BSc from the University of Toronto.
Peter Kingston
Vice President, Finance and Administration
Peter is a graduate of Oxford University and is a chartered accountant in both Canada and England.
He has extensive experience in finance, investments and the not-for-profit sector. He has worked in Vancouver, Toronto, London and Nassau (Bahamas) with three large public accounting firms, the BC credit union system, as well as CIBC Wood Gundy.
He joined Vancouver Foundation in 2006 after five years as the CFO at BC Cancer Foundation.
Lisa Pullan
Vice President, Development and Donor Services
Lisa joined Vancouver Foundation in 2005 after several years of consulting work in the non-profit sector. Previously, she was the Director of Major Gifts at BC Children's Hospital Foundation for seven years and was instrumental in growing the annual major gift individual giving program, the Children's Circle of Care.
Prior to her success at the hospital foundation, Lisa worked for eight years at University of British Columbia. There she participated in the World of Opportunity Campaign and also worked with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
