Where to place your charitable gift can be a tough decision. You want to support the causes you care about most, and you want to know that your donation will make a real difference.

Vancouver Foundation knows there are many factors that help create a healthy, vibrant, and supportive community for all. That's why we fund projects in a wide variety of fields:

Animal Welfare Health and Social Development
Arts and Culture Children, Youth and Families
Education Health and Medical Education/Research
Environment Youth Philanthropy

In each of these fields, we work with volunteers who are experts in the area. They help us carefully review all funding requests. They make sure the project is worthwhile and that it will have impact, and that our donors' funds will be used effectively and efficiently.

You have the option of giving to one or more of the above Fields of Interest, or to our Community Impact Fund, which supports current and emerging needs. It is through our Fields of Interest and our Community Impact Fund that the most innovative, community-based projects are supported.

What's more, through the generosity of an anonymous donor, we can double your gift should you give to any one of these areas. We will match, dollar-for-dollar, your gift of $1,000 or more (now up to $15,000 per person) to these fields or to our Community Impact Fund.

Or, triple your impact by contributing to our Youth Homelessness Initiative.

Youth Homelessness was identified as an area where a gap in services exists, and where Vancouver Foundation could make a particularly important contribution. Helping youth before they become entrenched in homelessness pays huge dividends, not only to the individuals themselves, but to society as a whole.

This year, we will triple gifts to our priority fund, the Youth Homelessness Initiative. Gifts to this priority will be matched two dollars to every one dollar, for every gift of $1,000 or more, up to $15,000 per person.

Matching Criteria

Who is eligible to have their gift matched?

  • Individuals and families
  • Corporations

How much will be matched?

  • Gifts of $1,000 or more made between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 will be matched dollar-for-dollar (or two dollars for every dollar, if gifted to the Youth Homelessness Initiative) to a maximum of $15,000.
  • Gifts cumulatively totalling $1,000 or more during the prescribed time period will also be matched.

What types of gifts qualify for the match?

  • Gifts to new or existing Community Impact Funds, Field of Interest Funds or Youth Homelessness Initiative.

What types of gifts do not qualify for the matching program?

  • Gifts to Donor Advised, Designated or Agency Funds
  • Gifts to funds not permanently held by Vancouver Foundation
  • Grants from existing Donor Advised Funds

How long is the matching program available?

  • The matching program will continue on a first-come, first-served basis until the pool of $200,000 is exhausted or until December 31, 2012 (whichever comes first).
