Grants to our community:
Youth Homelessness
Purpose
The Youth Homelessness Initiative intends to make a significant contribution to addressing youth homelessness through granting, convening and partnership activities in Metro Vancouver. The Initiative provides grants to organizations focused on increasing access to housing and support services for youth aged 16 to 24 experiencing homelessness. Youth who are homeless include those sleeping on the streets and in shelters as well as youth who are staying on a friend’s couch, squatting or living in poor or unsuitable conditions.
The Types of Projects We Support
In general, Vancouver Foundation supports growth and innovation through project-based grants for new initiatives. (See here for a full description.)
The Youth Homelessness Initiative supports:
- approaches that increase access to housing for youth experiencing homelessness in Metro Vancouver, and help youth maintain their housing.
- initiatives that involve young people in developing, implementing and evaluating the projects.
- projects that build on strategies that are proven to be effective, as well as innovative approaches with a strong chance of success that could serve as a model to others.
- projects that strengthen the community’s capacity to respond to youth homelessness and emphasize collaboration and formal partnerships with other agencies in the field.
