About Us

Labour Market Partnership

A strong and vibrant non-profit sector is important to everyone. The sector helps ease the effects of poverty, helps citizens live healthier lives, engages people who are marginalized and ensures our children are cared for.

Most non-profits have less than five paid staff while others have more than a hundred. The responsibilities of HR management also vary greatly. In some cases there is a dedicated staff position, with others the responsibility for human resources is just one part of a person's job description.

The Labour Market Partnership is an employment program geared to help the non-profit sector address their labour market challenges. These challenges range from an aging workforce, to a leadership deficit, to the enormous growth of the sector and demands for services.

This program stems from the Government Non-Profit Initiative (GNPI).

The Labour Market Partnership has four main areas of work:

HR Strategic Plan

The HR Strategic Plan provides a snapshot of the issues the non-profit labour market in BC is tackling. It includes 12 areas of action that will be developed into new tools and resources — all with the goal to make human resource management in the sector better. Click here for more information

Labour Market Information on BC's Non-profit Sector

This is a detailed study that will provide us with data on labour market conditions such as employment, wages, qualifications, job openings, and working conditions. It will provide a base of information the sector can use for ongoing HR planning and capacity building.

Project Funding

The Non-Profit Sector Employers’ Council does not accept unsolicited requests for funding. However, Requests for Proposal will be issued regularly until March 31, 2014. For the most recent Requests for Proposals, see What’s New.

Sustainability Plan

We will be funding multiple projects aimed at strengthening the foundation for human resource capacities in the non-profit sector. We realize that these projects will require ongoing support and development to maximize their impact. Our Sustainability Plan identifies how to approach this stewardship in a coordinated, collective and successful way.
