Vancouver Foundation grants top $46 million in 2012
Vancouver Foundation and its donors provided more than 4,000 grants and distributions totaling more than $46 million to registered charities across Canada in 2012 — a 12 per cent increase over the $41 million in grants and distributions provided the previous year.

Survey finds one-in-four Lower Mainland residents know someone homeless in past five years
Today, in preparation for the seventh annual Homelessness Action Week
(October 7 – 13), the Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Committee on Homelessness released Community Values: A Public Opinion Survey About Homelessness in Metro Vancouver, setting out the results of its first ever public opinion survey on homelessness. The survey was funded by Vancouver Foundation.
Key findings include:
- For nearly one-in-four residents, homelessness is personal because they know someone who is either currently homeless or has been homeless in the last five years
- Only one-in-three residents are satisfied with progress made so far in addressing homelessness in the region.
- Residents believe priority must be giving to preventing youth homelessness by increasing job training and employment opportunities.

Champions for Children and Youth 2011 BC Summit Report
In October, more than 120 immigrant and refugee youth from more than 30 countries gathered in Vancouver to share their experiences at the “Champions for Children and Youth BC Summit.” Organized by Vancouver Foundation and BC’s Representative for Children and Youth along with youth volunteers, the event allowed leaders in government and business to engage with young newcomers face-to-face. Vancouver Foundation helps families cope with disabilities
In 2011, Vancouver Foundation, through its Giving in Action Society, gave out $4.8 million to 137 BC families who care for a family member with a disability. This money helped to pay for 70 home renovation projects — including lifts, elevators, ramps, flooring, door widening, bathroom improvements — and helped 83 families purchase wheelchair accessible vehicles.
