The face of philanthropy is changing...

April 28, 2009 -- Vancouver Foundation's Board of Directors has announced the appointment of three exceptional people who have agreed to join the 12-member Board, and help direct the efforts of Canada's largest community foundation.

The appointments of Yuri Fulmer, Ida Goodreau and Brandt Louie are effective immediately.

Yuri Fulmer (United Way of the Lower Mainland rep)

Fulmer leads FDC Brands, which includes A&W and Mr. Mikes, and is one of Canada's largest privately-held food and beverage businesses. He is also responsible for Fulmer Holdings, the company's real estate division.

An ambitious entrepreneur, Fulmer also serves the community through his involvement with the United Way of the Lower Mainland, the Surrey Food Bank, Vancouver Community College, and the Vancouver Opera. He was named one of Canada's Top 40 under 40 in 2007.

Ida Goodreau (Vancouver Board of Trade rep)

Goodreau is President and Chief Executive Officer of LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, Canada's largest provider of community laboratory services. Formerly, she was President and CEO of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, one of Canada's largest public healthcare organizations.

Goodreau also sits on the Boards of Directors of Terasen Gas, the Vancouver Board of Trade, and is a member of the Board of Governors of the B.C. Business Council. She has a B.Comm and an MBA from the University of Windsor, and divides her time between LifeLabs offices in Toronto and Vancouver.

Brandt C. Louie

Louie is Chairman and CEO of H.Y. Louie Co. Limited and Chairman of the Board of London Drugs Limited. He has built both companies based on the core values of respect, hard work and philanthropy.

Louie has also donated his time to serve on the boards of numerous financial, educational and medical institutions, and has received many awards for those efforts. He is Chancellor of Simon Fraser University, has a BCom from UBC, FCA designation, and an Honourary Doctor of Laws from SFU.

"Now, more than ever, the support we provide can make the difference in how well our communities and our charities weather this economic downturn. These very accomplished individuals will bring additional skills, knowledge and experience to our board.
