Greenest City Generation Green Grants
Greenest City Generation Green Grants were a partnership between The City of Vancouver and Vancouver Foundation from 2012 to 2015. During that time we teamed up to create the Greenest City Fund – a four year fund to support community-led green projects – and distributed almost $2 million to projects in Vancouver that support the City’s Greenest City Action Plan.
What happened next with Generation Green Grants
Generation Green Grants provided young people with green ideas the opportunity to bring them to life. Youth could either lead the project overall or take on specific activities with support. The role of youth was "hands-on", or in other cases young people provided direction to a project.
Organizations that received a Generation Green Grant were selected through a two-stage process including a Letter of Intent and a Full Proposal. All applications were reviewed by our Volunteer Advisory Committee, a group of volunteer experts with experience and expertise in all things green.
Between 2012 and 2015, we distributed 32 Generation Green Grants.
Projects supported by these grants address one or more of the following goals from the City of Vancouver's Greenest City 2020 Action Plan.
- Climate Leadership
- Green Buildings
- Green Transportation
- Zero Waste
- Access to Nature
- Lighter Footprint
- Clean Water
- Local Food
- Green Economy
