Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association

Project Safe Relationships for Youth

Youth relational and dating violence is a problem in Abbotsford and many communities. Abbotsford Restorative Justice in partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley and School District 34 will scale the Restorative Action program currently facilitated in all Abbotsford middle schools into the secondary school level and will scale deeper in developing circle discussion content to address issues surrounding this problem as well as skill development to aid in prevention for our youth. Emphasis will also focus on influencing school district policies and procedures which will assist in making Abbotsford communities safer and more restorative for students to learn and grow

Rise Women's Legal Centre

Virtual Legal Clinic

The Virtual Legal Clinic addresses the critical lack of access to justice in small communities throughout BC. The project will develop a network of community partners with “safe computers” to act as service points for low-income women in need of legal assistance. Learning through doing, Rise will learn about the best practices for delivering virtual legal services, and will develop training for lawyers in order to jump start the use of virtual legal services throughout the province. Finally, Rise will use what they learn to seek to remove barriers to virtual legal services by working with government agencies and professional regulatory bodies to improve existing policies and practices.
