Local Government Management Association of BC

For nearly 100 years the Local Government Management Association of BC (LGMA) has supported the learning, leadership, and growth of local government professionals across British Columbia. To celebrate their centennial year, they are working with the First Nations Public Service Secretariat to ensure that Indigenous government professionals have access to the training and professional development they need to best serve their communities.

Local government professionals are the backbones of their communities, responsible for maintaining essential daily services like water, garbage, and roadwork and responsible for finding innovative solutions to the problems facing their communities.

To facilitate greater engagement, understanding, and reconciliation between BC First Nations and local government staff, the LGMA and the First Nations Public Service Secretariat have created the BC First Nations Public Service Scholarship—an endowment with Vancouver Foundation that will ensure that Indigenous government professionals have access to the very best in training, professional development, and academic accreditation.

LGMA’s goal as a not-for-profit organization is to create a $100,000.00 endowment by the end of 2019. To achieve this goal, the LGMA has already pledged $10,000 towards the BC First Nations Public Service Scholarship and is encouraging both its members and those organizations who work closely with BC First Nations to make charitable donations.

Your donation to the BC First Nations Public Service Scholarship will help to ensure that Indigenous government professionals have access to the training and professional development they need to make a difference in their communities.
