The Salvation Army didn’t give up on me…I saw the ugly, the bad, the addict…they saw the other part of me…I love who I am today, I have so much hope for my life. G.E, Salvation Army client

For over 150 years, The Salvation Army is the largest direct non-governmental social service provider in Canada. The first ministry of The Salvation Army in BC opened on the edge of Chinatown in 1887. Today, The Salvation Army touches lives through a strategic continuum of care and relief. From emergency shelters and transitional housing, family support, family counselling and life skills training, addiction treatment programs and ongoing counselling, The Salvation Army gives hope every day to families, new immigrants, seniors, the terminally ill, homeless people and marginalized individuals in British Columbia. It is estimated that one-third of British Columbians have been touched in some way by The Salvation Army.

“In a tragedy, The Salvation Army is right there. They help the people who are down and out. Whenever there is a need, The Salvation Army will be there. I have left a gift in my will to The Salvation Army. After providing for my family, I wanted to support the causes that were important to me”. Salvation Army donor for over 50 years
