About the Youth Philanthropy Council
Formed in 1998, the Vancouver Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Council was one of the first youth philanthropy groups to be introduced to the community foundation movement. Composed of a diverse group of volunteer youth ages 15-24 who live in the Metro Vancouver area, the YPC plays a fundamental decision-making role in the youth-focused programs of the Vancouver Foundation. With the support of the Foundation’s staff and Board, members of the YPC work together to research and assess community concerns, work with local non-profit organizations, review and assess funding applications, and make grant money available for other youth-led groups who want to create positive change in their community.
With more than 1,400 funds, and assets of almost $750 million, Vancouver Foundation is Canada’s largest community foundation. Since it was founded in 1943, Vancouver Foundation, in partnership with its donors, has distributed more than $830 million to innovative projects and programs throughout BC.
