FUNDED PROJECT
Learn about the great work that the Children & Families fund supports, like this project: Check Your Head
Despite Canada’s growing GDP, young people in this country struggle to make ends meet as they face high levels of unemployment and underemployment. Even though young people are investing more in education than previous generations, the majority aren’t able to secure stable, well-paying jobs
In 2017, we received an application from Check Your Head: Global Youth Education Network to launch an economic justice leadership program that helps young people re-imagine and rebuild our economic system. Our Children & Families Advisors agreed that this was a good idea.
Donors like you made possible a $10K grant that helped youth apply their advocacy skills in the provincial policy-making process and gave them the tools to be engaged, independent and active citizens.
Over the past five years, the Children & Families focus area has provided support to a a range of leading charities including: Vancouver Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, Okanagan Boys and Girls Club, Port Alberni Association for Children with Developmental Disabilities, Justice for Girls, Spirit North, and Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, among others.
