A message from CEO Kevin McCort

It is with a heart full of emotion that I share that I have stepped down as CEO and President of the Vancouver Foundation. After 12 years in this role, the Board and I have agreed that it is time to make room for new leadership.
I will be supporting the foundation as CEO Emeritus through October 31st, so I won’t be going far. Kate Hammer, Vice President of Engagement, will serve as Acting CEO until August 18th, when Board member Mary Ackenhusen will step in to serve as Interim CEO until my replacement is found.
As I reflect on the last 12 years, I am overcome with gratitude to the staff, community advisors, Board members, committee members who help make Vancouver Foundation an expression of the best that can happen when community comes together.
In that time the Foundation has granted more than $1-billion to charities and non-profits, leaning into systems change and the belief that community holds the ideas, energy and solutions to tackle society’s biggest challenges.
As I’ve always said, people may leave the Foundation, but stay in the community. I am looking forward to joining all of you as part of the Vancouver Foundation Community.
