Fresh Voices

Fresh Voices are a group of immigrants and refugees inspiring each other to make BC a better place for young newcomers.

Fresh Voices is a joint initiative of Vancouver Foundation and the BC Representative for Children and Youth. We offer a way for immigrant and refugee youth from across B.C. to engage in dialogue and action to identify and remove barriers to their success.

Young people are important participants and leaders of our work. The Fresh Voices Youth Advisory Team engages in public engagement, research, and partnership activities that address the unique needs of immigrant and refugee youth in B.C.

What we do

Together, the outcomes we seek to influence are:

  • Improved policies and practices that affect racialized immigrant and refugee youths’ sense of belonging in British Columbia and Canada as a whole.
  • Newcomer youth have more voice and influence in planning and decision-making processes that affect their lives.

Much of our work today is based on sixteen key recommendations from a series of consultations and forums with immigrant and refugee youth across B.C. Find out more about what we do, and see what’s included in the Community Forum Report and Recommendations.
