Legacy Donor Appreciation Events: Bard on the Beach, King Lear
Each year we hold a Legacy Donor Appreciation event by partnering with local arts and cultural organizations that we have supported in the past. This is a great way for us to showcase these organizations and demonstrate some of Vancouver Foundation’s granting dollars in action.
In September 2015, our legacy donors enjoyed a lively performance of King Lear at the Bard on the Beach festival. We held a well-attended pre-show reception where we gathered to share some delicious nibbles. Bard’s Creative Director, Christopher Gaze, gave a riveting introduction of the Shakespearian play before we headed into the festival tents to see the performance. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the portrayal of King Lear’s dramatic family struggle of love, loyalty and wealth on a beautiful summer day next to Kitsilano Beach.
We host the Legacy Donor event to show gratitude to the community members who have left a gift in their estate plans to Vancouver Foundation. These legacy gifts help create strong communities and ongoing support for charities for years to come.
