Prevention of Type Two Diabetes in Children

University of Northern British Columbia

Over the last decade there has been a dramatic increase in the number of children diagnosed with Type Two Diabetes. This UNBC program is trying to reverse this trend by offering hope to kids who are at risk for developing the disease.

The study explores issues such as weight gain, lack of exercise and unhealthy eating, using them as early indicators for the development of Type Two Diabetes.

“This is not something that I can do by myself,” says Dr. Hanh Huynh, UNBC. “But with the support of the Vancouver Foundation it shows support and the good will of all members of society working together as a team to combat this disease”
