The Renfrew-Collingwood Food Security Institute

On the surface, Vancouver’s Renfrew-Collingwood community seems like a typical middle-class neighborhood. Delve deeper and you’ll discover the alarming truth: 30% of residents live below the poverty line, unable to provide proper nutrition for their families.
To address this growing problem, The Renfrew-Collingwood Food Security Institute was established in 2002 by the Collingwood Neighborhood House Society. It’s built on the idea that access to healthy, fresh food is a basic human right. With a $65,000 grant from Vancouver Foundation, the project provides a solid food base for our community.
