We are an accredited organization under Imagine Canada's Standards Program for demonstrating excellence in five areas of operation, including board governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, staff management, and volunteer involvement.
Vancouver Foundation is proud to have been certified as Living Wage employer. This means we meet or exceed the Metro Vancouver Living Wage rate of $20.62 an hour for all our direct and contract staff. Visit the Living Wage for Families Campaign webpage for more information.
Vancouver Foundation recognizes the value of its relationships with potential donors, donors, volunteers, and employees, and is committed to respecting and protecting their personal information. We value the trust of those we deal with, and of the public, and recognize that maintaining this trust requires transparency and accountability in our treatment of the personal information that is entrusted to us.
Vancouver Foundation is committed to its mission of making meaningful and lasting impacts in communities. We achieve our mission in a variety of ways, involving members of communities across British Columbia. Our work is based on our values; they are the essence of what we stand for/believe in/live by as an organization. Although we hope that the service we provide to our stakeholders is well received, we acknowledge that there may be occasions when someone may object to how we conduct ourselves. Staff will view issues raised as an opportunity to receive information which may assist in improvement of our services.
We, as Vancouver Foundation professionals (staff and volunteers), dedicate ourselves to carrying out the mission of this organization.
We believe in fair and transparent processes and being accountable for our actions. We want the service we provide to everyone – by every department and staff member – to be grounded in excellence, trust and open communication. Our actions should clearly align to our intention to be community-inspired and responsive to local needs.
Vancouver Foundation is committed to building capacity for social innovation within the charitable sector by promoting knowledge sharing. By clarifying the conditions upon which others may share, reuse, adapt and distribute the knowledge and resources produced through our own grant making, research and evaluation activities, we can generate new opportunities for communities to discover and access these works, and to fully realize the potential of the content created.
As a registered charity, Vancouver Foundation accepts donations from individuals, organizations, associations, foundations and corporations that support its mission of harnessing the gifts of energy, ideas, time and money to make meaningful and lasting impacts in communities in BC. The Foundation has a number of policies under the broad category of “philanthropy” that have been developed in order to: protect donor interests; manage donor relations; facilitate gift solicitation and management; ensure legal compliance and address any risk issues; and enhance effective operational management.
